A note on this list
No single item here is cause for alarm on its own. Kids have hard weeks. They avoid things sometimes. They get frustrated when technology doesn't work. What you're looking for is pattern — multiple signals appearing consistently over two or more weeks, especially if they represent a change from how your child usually behaves. Use this list as a starting point for observation, not diagnosis. The goal is to notice early, so you can have a conversation before the pattern is deeply entrenched.
Check the behaviors you've noticed in the past 2 weeks:
GROUP 1 — Task avoidance patterns
GROUP 2 — Judgment outsourcing
GROUP 3 — Social and emotional signals
GROUP 4 — Privacy and secrecy
What your count means
0–2 checked: Normal use. No action needed — continue paying attention.
3–5 checked: Worth a conversation. Use this list as a starting point: "I've noticed a few things lately and I want to understand what's going on." Approach with curiosity, not accusation.
6 or more checked: Time for a real reset. Consider reviewing your Family AI Agreement together, setting some temporary limits, and having a structured conversation about what's happening. If your child resists strongly or you see signs of significant distress, consider talking with a school counselor.
